Why Eid Al Fitr 2026 Dates Were Certain
Typically, Eid Al Fitr in the UAE depends on the sighting of the crescent moon at the end of Ramadan. Islamic months are either 29 or 30 days long, depending on moon visibility.
However, in 2026, the timing of Ramadan meant that Eid Al Fitr could only fall on Thursday, March 19, regardless of whether Ramadan lasted 29 or 30 days.
Under UAE public holiday law, this made the Eid break fixed and confirmed as a four-day weekend scenario for most residents.
