Ramadan Souq Dubai 2026: Deira’s Historic Market Returns for 25 Days of Tradition

Table of Content

The Ramadan Souq Dubai 2026 is officially back, marking the start of the city’s most soulful season. Starting this Saturday, January 17, 2026, the historic Grand Souq area in Deira will be transformed into a vibrant cultural hub. Organized by Dubai Municipality, this fourth edition of the souq is more than just a marketplace; it is a 25-day celebration of Emirati heritage, community spirit, and the timeless rituals that lead up to the Holy Month.

Running daily until February 15, 2026, the souq serves as a bridge between Dubai’s fast-paced future and its storied past, offering residents and tourists a rare glimpse into the “Old Dubai” way of preparing for Ramadan.

Location: The Heart of Old Municipality Street

The Ramadan Souq Dubai 2026 is strategically located at the Old Municipality Street Square in Al Ras, Deira. This area has been the commercial heartbeat of the city for decades, and the souq revitalizes these ancient lanes with festive lighting, traditional stalls, and the aromas of bukhoor and spices.

  • Timings: Open daily from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
  • Entry: Completely free for all visitors.
  • Atmosphere: A “miniature souq” has been constructed alongside the permanent shops, where long-standing traders offer competitive prices on bulk items.

Haq Al Laila: Preparing for the Mid-Sha’ban Celebration

A major highlight of the Ramadan Souq Dubai 2026 is the focus on Haq Al Laila. This cherished Emirati tradition takes place on the 15th of Sha’ban (the month preceding Ramadan). During this time, children dress in traditional clothes and visit neighbors to collect sweets and nuts.

At the souq, families can find everything needed for this celebration, including:

  • Customized Gift Bags: Colourful pouches for children to carry their treats.
  • Traditional Sweets & Nuts: Sold in bulk at “souq prices.”
  • Emirati Attire: Beautifully embroidered jalabiyas for girls and kanduras for boys.

Beyond Shopping: Entertainment and Workshops

While the focus is on “getting Ramadan ready,” the Ramadan Souq Dubai 2026 is a major family destination. This year, the municipality has expanded the entertainment program to include:

  • Live Performances: Emirati folk artists and traditional musicians will perform daily as the sun sets.
  • Interactive Workshops: Children can participate in craft sessions, learning how to make traditional decorations or paint Arabic calligraphy.
  • Culinary Delights: Dedicated food stalls serving authentic Emirati snacks like Luqaimat (sweet dumplings) and Rigag (crispy bread).

Economic Support for Local Traders

The Ramadan Souq Dubai 2026 also plays a vital role in supporting local entrepreneurs. By providing a dedicated platform at one of the city’s highest-footfall heritage sites, Dubai Municipality is helping small businesses and traditional artisans showcase their products to a global audience. From handmade perfumes and organic honey to unique homeware, the souq is a treasure trove for those looking to support the local economy.
