Burj Khalifa

At 828 metres, the Burj Khalifa is the tallest building on Earth — and still the clearest symbol of Dubai’s ambition. It anchors the skyline of Downtown Dubai and draws millions of visitors a year, most of them for the same reason: the view from the top.

Inside the World’s Tallest Building

The trip up starts with one of the fastest elevators in the world, which clears the climb in seconds rather than minutes. From there, visitors choose between two main observation levels.

Levels 124 & 125 — At The Top: 360-degree views over Dubai’s skyline, the desert, and the Arabian Gulf, through floor-to-ceiling glass and from outdoor terraces.

Level 148 — At The Top SKY: A more exclusive option, with a private lounge, guided tours, and access to what’s billed as the world’s highest outdoor observation deck — quieter than the lower levels and built for a slower visit.

Dining at Height

The tower is also home to two of the more unusual dining experiences in the city.

At.mosphere (Level 122): one of the highest restaurants in the world, serving fine dining and high tea with views to match.

The Lounge (Levels 152–154): billed as the highest lounge on the planet, better suited to sunset drinks and light bites than a full meal.

Light and Fountain Shows

Each evening, the tower’s facade turns into a massive LED display, running animations and themed visuals timed to the Dubai Fountain below. It’s visible from several vantage points around Downtown Dubai, including a number of restaurants with a direct line of sight to the fountain.

Ticket prices vary by access level:

• Levels 124 & 125: from AED 189
• Level 148 (SKY): from AED 399

Premium packages can include guided tours and refreshments. Booking ahead is worth doing, especially in peak season, when wait times climb fast.

The tower is open daily from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM, with last entry at 11:00 PM. The best time to go is during golden hour, roughly 5:00–6:30 PM, when you get both the daylight view and the transition into the night skyline. Early mornings in winter have their own appeal too, when fog sometimes creates an “above the clouds” effect.

What makes the Burj Khalifa worth visiting isn’t just the height record — it’s the different vantage point it gives you on a city that’s usually experienced at street level. Book online in advance, aim for a clear-weather sunset slot, and leave time to explore Downtown Dubai afterward; between the observation decks, the dining and the evening shows, it’s a full afternoon rather than a quick stop.
