Downtown Design Returns to Dubai Design District

Each November, Dubai becomes a meeting point for the international design industry, and Downtown Design plays an important role in bringing those conversations together.

Rather than focusing exclusively on finished furniture and decorative pieces, the fair explores the creative thinking behind contemporary interiors, architecture and product design.

Visitors can discover how designers are experimenting with materials, responding to changing lifestyles and developing collections that combine functionality with creative expression.

The exhibition also provides a platform for independent studios and emerging designers to present their work alongside established international manufacturers.

As part of the wider Dubai Design Week programme, Downtown Design connects the commercial side of the industry with new creative ideas, offering visitors a broader perspective on contemporary design.

What Can Visitors Expect at Downtown Design 2026?

The 2026 edition of Downtown Design features a curated mix of international exhibitors, regional design studios, limited-edition collections and creative presentations.

Visitors interested in interior design can explore furniture, statement lighting, textiles, surface finishes and decorative objects, with collections reflecting different approaches to craftsmanship and modern living.

International brands participating in this year’s programme include Venini, Gaggenau and Ethimo, bringing expertise in glassmaking, kitchen appliances and outdoor furniture.

Regional creativity will also feature prominently, with initiatives including Tashkeel’s Tanween Design Programme and the Athath Fellowship.

UAE-based designers Nadine Kanso and Omar Al Gurg are also presenting work influenced by cultural references, including Arabic calligraphy and the traditional majlis.

Alongside established brands, independent designers and smaller creative studios will introduce original concepts, providing opportunities to discover work that may not be widely available through conventional retail spaces.

Design Talks, Masterclasses and Creative Conversations

Downtown Design is not limited to exhibitions. Its programme includes The Forum, a dedicated space for conversations about architecture, interiors, craftsmanship and the future of the creative industry.

Throughout the fair, visitors can attend talks, panel discussions and masterclasses featuring designers, architects and industry professionals.

These sessions explore the ideas shaping contemporary design, from changing approaches to residential spaces to the relationship between traditional craftsmanship and modern technologies.

For design students and professionals, The Forum provides an opportunity to gain insight into the creative processes and industry experiences of established practitioners.

The fair also hosts networking activities, allowing designers, manufacturers, architects and businesses to connect and explore potential collaborations.

A Spotlight on Regional Design Talent

One of Downtown Design’s defining features is its emphasis on connecting international design brands with the Middle East’s growing creative community.

Regional designers have an opportunity to present their ideas to industry professionals, collectors and visitors who may be discovering their work for the first time.

The fair also brings attention to the different cultural influences shaping design across the region, including traditional materials, local craftsmanship and contemporary interpretations of heritage.

For visitors, this creates an opportunity to explore original work alongside internationally recognised collections.

For emerging designers and creative businesses, participation can provide valuable exposure, professional connections and opportunities to engage with the wider design industry.
