At last, the United Arab Emirates has finished one of the most major infrastructure projects in its history. Etihad Rail has announced the launch timetable for its long-awaited passenger train services, which are expected to revolutionize how residents and visitors move between the seven emirates. The idea is to create a huge 900-kilometre passenger network linking 11 major cities and offering a modern, efficient and comfortable alternative to driving. The network will shorten travel times, with a phased rollout commencing in summer 2026. Journeys between key hubs such as Abu Dhabi and Dubai are expected to take roughly 50 minutes. This milestone is a major step forward in the country’s vision of sustainable and connected transportation.
Timeline For Phased Launch
The first running phase will connect Fujairah with the Mohammed Bin Zayed City station in Abu Dhabi and will be launched on Tuesday, June 30, 2026. This first flight gives us a taste of what UAE flying will be like in the future, with the full network rollout scheduled for Wednesday, September 30, 2026. On this significant day Dubai and Al Dhaid stations come online, bringing the nation’s largest business centres to the rail map. The network will expand until the end of the year with the opening of Al Dhafra stations on Wednesday, December 30, 2026, and Sharjah’s station on Tuesday, March 30, 2027. This tiered method will guarantee that each location is seamlessly integrated into the national grid with the maximum operating efficiency.

Mapping the Locations of the Eleven Strategic Stations
The first eleven passenger stations have been carefully chosen to be as accessible as possible throughout the United Arab Emirates. The network contains stations in Abu Dhabi at Mohammed bin Zayed City, Al Sila, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed and Mezairaa. Travelers in Dubai will have a major stop at Jumeirah Golf Estates and an important connection at Al Maktoum International Airport is also in the pipeline. Sharjah will be served by University City and Al Dhaid stations, and Fujairah by Al Hilal station. The hub status of Al Faya further strengthens the network’s reach. Dubai’s local transport authorities are already building up feeder bus and taxi services to bridge the final mile, so you will have a hassle-free travel from the train station to your destination.
Onboard Superior Comfort & Amenities
Etihad train intends to create a magnificent travel experience that is on par with the best train systems in the world and not only transit from point A to point B. A modern train has three travel classes, economy, business/family and first class and is designed to carry roughly 400 passengers. Each class will provide enough room and comfortable seating for passengers, making the journey throughout the emirates a pleasurable one. The trains are equipped with the latest entertainment technology and dedicated charging stations at every seat to keep the passengers entertained throughout the whole ride. Moreover, the onboard food and beverage facilities in a temperature controlled environment offer year-round comfort, allowing tourists to enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee while taking in the diverse UAE surroundings.
Speed, Impact and Looking Forward
These trains are reliable and function well, and they can travel at speeds up to 200 km/h. Etihad Rail said it will cut travel times substantially, including a trip between Abu Dhabi and Dubai of 50 minutes and a journey from Dubai to Fujairah of an hour-and-a-half, to reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions throughout the country. The operator has ambitious long-term aspirations, wanting to transport 36 million people a year by 2030. Tickets will be available via a user-friendly website and a dedicated smart booking app as part of the broader digital-first approach of the project. With technology so seamlessly integrated, planning your inter-emirate travel is only a few taps away on your smartphone.
UAE Infrastructure: A New Age
Etihad Rail’s commencement of passenger service is more than a new method of transportation; it is a critical social and economic enabler for the UAE. The government is creating a stable, safe and up-to-date rail link between the seven emirates, to promote stronger social cohesion and to make travel easier for tourists and business commuters alike. The stations are designed to be destinations in themselves, with a selection of food, shops and cafes, as well as smart transit technology to enhance the overall visitor experience. The introduction of the first service in June will herald in a new era and indicate that the UAE is at the forefront of constructing infrastructure that’s top-notch, sustainable and ready for the future. For those who desire to enjoy this fantastic adventure across the UAE’s deserts, ticket sales are the first step.
